Artist Statement:
My work explores re-establishing contact with the primal, the past, and the authentic. This is manifested primarily through the animal, which simultaneously represents innocence, instinct, Nature, and freedom.
The animal is within us, often concealing it's true nature in a composed manner as if on a leash, and other times not. I investigate this duality of our human-ness and animal-ness, and the tension between two conditions such as inhibition versus freedom.
